Liked It“When you simply want your funny bone tickled, reach for Carl Hiaasen. His books are wonderful, in print or audio. They inevitably involve a mystery filled with unsavory but well-drawn characters whose greed, vanity, or some other deadly sin is their ultimate undoing. Such a fun ride!” see full review » see other reviews » |
“Fishing is a sport that should relax you, unless you are a bass fisherman, judging from this fast paced story. Hiaasen once again lays bare his contempt for televangelists, developers, racists, and all things Floridian.”

Hiaasen is a consistently good writer - sort of reminds me of Elmore Leonard in that respect. Short, smart, funny, fast paced best-sellers that make a nice break from literary fiction.”

Yes | No“ I think this is Hiassen's best novel, mostly because he sticks to an actual plot and doesn't go off on tangents. A lot of the best stuff in this book has been repeated over and over again in his other books. For the most part Hiassen just writes the same book over and over again but this is the prototype for them all. ”

One-time journalist turned PI begins investigation into cheating at highly profitable bass fishing tournaments, which leads to gruesome murders and truly memorable characters.”
