Bryson ranks with bodett and sedaris as some of the smartest, funniest writers alive! walk in the woods, a small island and sunbaked country are all excellent, some of his other work lags, but is still better thsan reading the latest NYT bestseller. also like william least heat moon, a lot, but would agree, he does suffer from the illness you attribute to bryson”
