“This series is erotica, which is definitely different than my normal paranormal romance, that being said -- I like it. It isn't for everyone, in fact most people would probably find it silly and ridiculous, I don't care - I like my pr0n. As my wise husband says, "Baby, everybody need their pr0n."”see full review » see other reviews »

“THE EMPRESS' NEW CLOTHES was an interesting and fun read for me. I love sci-fi erotica themes. Especially ones like this one where the hero is from a different world/planet and the heroine is his mate. I found myself quite enjoying the story a lot.
Kyra and her best friend, Ger are relaxing in a resort while the Emperor of Trek Mi Q'an, Zor finds out that his queen is the lovely, Kyra, so he goes and takes Kyra away to his planet. Kyra must learn and obey all of the customs of Zor's planet that are all very revealing and sexual, and so not normal from where she comes from.
“I’ll go to sleep. But first, I want to put some clothes on.” Zor grunted. His eyes remained shut. “You will always remain naked whilst alone in my presence, yet will I allow you the dress of Trystonni women whilst in the company of others.”
The truth of the matter is that I am just getting started in the erotica genre, so I haven't read a lot of erotica, but THE EMPRESS' NEW CLOTHES was one of the best reads I have read in a long time. I think what I loved about this book was the different customs of Zor's planet. There are a lot of sex scenes in this book so be warned! I didn't mind it, so much because I loved everything about this book and plus it's apart of the storyline as well because Zor's planet customs and everything sort of centers on the sex.
“I could never hate you.” Kyra shook her head. “Never.” “Ah nee’ka .” Zor kissed her cheek, then turned her face slightly to kiss the tip of her nose. “I do not deserve one so fine as you.”
This book was "laugh-out-loud" funny some of the time. I loved watching Kyra learning all of the customs and fitting in her role as queen and just doing stuff she never thought she would do because it is looked down upon on Earth by people. She gets to do what she wants and no feel ashamed of it. And I loved Zor! He was everything you loved in an Alpha hero! He was arrogant, jealous, hot-tempered and so worthy of your drooling all over him!
As I've said again and again, I loved THE EMPRESS' NEW CLOTHES and I will definitely be reading the other books in the Trek Mi Q'an Series. I am hoping I will like them as much as I did this book. ”
“All of Jade Blacks books that I have read are very EROTIC romances with an X rating and I couldn't put them down. Loved this and all of the Trek Mi Q'an series. (some more than others).”Paula wrote this review Tuesday, March 20, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“The Empress' New Clothes is the first book in Jaid Black's Trek Mi Q'an series. Kyra Summers is spending her vacation at a resort that specializes in stress relief and relaxation with her best friend Geris. She is completely clueless that meanwhile, in a galaxy far, far away, the Emperor of Trek Mi Q'an has learned that his queen shall be none other than Kyra Summers. Zor takes a trip to Earth to pick up his destined mate. He finds her outside the resort and whisks her away to his planet. There Kyra must learn the new customs of Zor's world and succumb to his passionate nature.
This book was a lot of fun. It's hokey and over-the-top, but it is also entertaining as all get out. So the theme is a fish out of water. Kyra is taken to another world, existing in another time. It's nothing at all what she is accustomed to and she must learn a whole new way of life. This is the part of the story that I was most interested in and found entertaining.
Since this is an erotic romance there is a lot of sex in this book. The customs on this particular world all seem to revolve around sex. I liked reading about the different customs, but after a while I was bored with the sex. It just seemed like the sex scenes became repetitive. Wash, rinse and repeat. Boooorrring. The entertainment for me came from Kyra finding out the hard way certain customs. That was always good for a laugh. Zor was completely clueless as to what Kyra would accept and not accept as a custom. I actually enjoyed reading this book, but it is no literary classic. If you like Sci-fi and enjoy a good laugh, then you might want to give this one a try.
“I've read this entire series now and the author has quite the imagination. Lots and lots of sex but humor too and some good character development. ”Jennifer M wrote this review Wednesday, December 15, 2010. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“I enjoyed the very erotic book about tax accountant Kyra who is kidnapped by High King Zor because she is his Sacred Mate. Eventually Kyra grew accustomed to Zor's publicly sexual planet … took me a little longer but there was enough action and exciting ending.”Dawn ♥ romance wrote this review Saturday, December 11, 2010.
