Contemporary Romance. When her fiancé dumps her for her spoiled younger sister, glass artist Lucy picks up the pieces of her broken heart and retreats to peaceful Friday Harbor, where she meets adorable, geeky Sam Nolan -- who happens to be a friend of Lucy's ex. Unlike Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor, the novella that first introduced readers to this enchanting locale (an actual town located on San Juan Island, in Washington State), Rainshadow Road contains a touch of magical realism. If you enjoy visiting misty and mystical islands in the Pacific Northwest, you should check out Anjali Banerjee's Haunting Jasmine.

Quotes edit see section history

  • “You're not going to defend him?" Lucy asked cynically. "Why would I defend a guy like that?" "Because he's a man, and apparently men can't help cheating. It's the way you're built. A biological imperative." "Like hell it is. A man doesn't cheat. If you want to go after someone else, you break up first. No exceptions.”
    Lucy and Sam
