“When Lexi touches an object she receives a vision of its last user and use. This paranormal ability has made her a pariah in her relationships. But she will use this ability to help find here 10-yr old niece, Chloe, who has disappeared. Not to give any spoilers I can only say that this story takes many sinister twists and turns to an ending that I didn't foresee. I must tell you there was nothing I didn't like about this story, it grabbed me from the beginning and held me 'til the end.”Bette wrote this review 2 weeks ago. “I was just bouncing around trying to find something different from my norm. While there is the obvious need for an editor, I still like the story well enough to finish. It did not grab me, and I actually had to come back to it a few times because I just did not "feel" the vibe Ms. Olsen was trying to convey. However, I did see enough to make me want to go back and see something else. I wonder what the author feels is her 'signature' piece...the one she wants to really be known for having written.”TW Brown wrote this review Sunday, July 21, 2013. “There wasn’t anything I disliked about this book. Ms. Olsen’s talent for telling this story from page one hooked me right away. Her main character, Lexi, is quirky and self-confidant but also vulnerable and shows insecurities with intimacy. Something we all struggle with at times.
Alli is Lexi’s sister, prim and proper. She lives in denial over her husband, Neil’s, cheating ways. To the outside world, everything looks rosy. The story opens with Alli’s husband missing.
Choe is Lexi’s niece. Sometime after Neil’s disappearance, she confides in her aunt about ghosts in her house and her mother’s strange behavior. Not long after her dad’s disappearance, she goes missing, too.
Gabriel is the detective assigned to the case, an old boyfriend to Alli from high school. Out of curiosity, he takes a quick liking to Lexi despite her qift and purple-streaked hair. The relationship between the two are good chemistry-a tug of war- even though there’s a crime to solve.
Paul is one of Lexi’s housemates. He’s got the hots for her, too, and has known her a lot longer than Gabriel. The chemistry’s not so bad here either. It keeps you wondering who she will end up with in the end.
There are other characters to add to this intoxicating brew but I’ll let you find out for yourselves. More than likely, Ms. Olsen will have you wondering about Alli’s strange behavior and what do the ghost have to do with anything. Even the house gives you a deep-down-creepy feeling.
“I have to give this book almost a 4. I didnt know what to think about the issues being ghosts/possesion. Also, i though it was a bit creepy that they where children that died at the hands of a woman (mother figure). It did work well with the story line though. I liked the ability that Lexi had, its very different. Like nothing i've read before. Y almost a 4? I saw the ending coming a mile away. I knew where the issue was, and i figured how it was going to play out. I like twists and turns and even some cliff hangers. The ending was too predictable. The story was well written though and i liked the concept. ”Jessica S "antidisestablishmentarianism" wrote this review Tuesday, August 9, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Loved the book... kept me guessing from the beginning, and even when I thought I had it figured out the ending was a surprise. I also liked the interaction between the quirky main character Lexi and the detective, and their slowly developing relationship. Definitely recommend it! ”Greenemage wrote this review Friday, July 8, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
