• Nina Oberon: Nina is the main character of the book. She is a young girl who has recently turned sixteen. Her world was turned upside down in the previous book. The reader followed along as she tried to unravel all the secrets that had been revealed to her.
• Sal: Ninas boyfriend. A Non-Con.
• Wei: Wei is best friends with Nina and Sal. She is a martial artist and a Creative. Her parents knew Ninas parents and are there to help Nina when she might need it.
• Chris: Wei's brother

• Chicago Institute of Art: Nina works here after school.
• Soma: The coffee shop where Nina's friend, Derek, and his brother, perform music. All her friends hang out there. It's at the corner of North Ave and Wells St.

• Resistance: A group of people who are fighting to change the government.
• The Sisterhood: A group of teen girls who are fighting with the Resistance - and doing some subversive work all on their own, too!
• The Governing Council: The ruling group of the Americas. Also referred to as the G.C.
• B.O.S.S.: The Bureau of Safety and Security. Basically the GC's elite police force.
• The Media: The Media is the power behind the Governing Council. Although the G.C. seems to think it's the reverse.
