I finished this book in one day. This was the first John Green book I had ever read and it will not be my last. I couldn't put it down no matter when I needed to be doing instead. I laughed and cried both while reading this book. This is one of those books that I wish I could read for the first time again it was amazing.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (YA)
    Audio / 6 CDs / about 7 1/2 hours
    Performed by Kate Rudd

The author stated in an interview that he hoped readers would see this novel as "a moving and realistic portrait of what it's like to be young and in love and sick". Really summarizes the story well. 17-year-old Hazel is a terminal "cancer kid" - she knows her time is limited. She meets and falls in love with Augusuts, another cancer survivor in a support group for teens with cancer. Green hits the nail on the head so completely in his characterization of the teens - their boldness, irreverance, intense feelings and emotions, their pithy humor. It is a heartbreaking, raw, humorous, and true working out of the ambiguities of life. As the author says about these characters who are faced with life and death in ways other teens are not, "they don't have the luxury of ignoring the reality of their immortality". Hazel, Augustus and their friend Isaac are smart, funny, seeking to find out what to make of the life that is theirs. Really wonderful. Highly recommend.

So funny and so sad. Cancer patients who meet at a support group find true love but life gets I their way. Rather,,death gets In the way. I laughed and I certainly cried. A special book.

Be prepared to cry. Not predictable. Beautiful language. Characters who see life differently. Definitely recommend.

The Fault In Our Stars is a wonderful, sad love story with great characters. John Green writes from a 16 your old cancer patient named Hazel's point of view and does it fantastically! Hazel, who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when she was just 13, meets Augustus at cancer support group. Augustus, who is in remission, immediately takes notice of Hazel and can't stay away from her. Over time, Augustus and Hazel become the best of friends just as things begin to change. Throughout all this, they become drawn to Hazel's all time favorite book, 'An Imperial Affliction' and set out on what will be their last journey to find the author of the book. If you enjoy a quick read, this is the book for you and you'll blow through it. Just like any book though, it has it's flaws. For example, the plot may sound interesting but it seems to drag on because there are no new ideas or twists in the story line. Overall though, The Fault In Our Stars is very well written and other than what I previously said about the plot, it is definitely worth reading.

313 pages; The Fault in Our Stars is the raw love story of Hazel and Augustus. Both diagnosed with different forms of cancer, they meet at a Support Group and proceed to become best friends who then fall in love. Though they know that their time is most likely fleeting, they continue to live in the face of death, being strong for each other. John Green expertly taps into the emotions I can only imagine one must go through when dealing with a life threatening illness. The Fault in Our Stars is a haunting story that is definitely worth the read!
