Liked It “Really enjoyed this first in a new series. I fact I'd like to go back and pick up Swanson's Scumble River series which won at least one Agatha award. “I've been reading Swanson's Scumble River series for a while, so when I saw that my library had this first in another series by her, I put it on hold. I liked it well enough, but didn't love it. Dev seems younger than Skye, but the writing still feels a little off. Again, I don't see anyone but tweens actually calling someone their BFF or Bestie unless there's a heavy dose of sarcasm thrown in. Yet the characters here use it a lot. I also always get annoyed when the police are so extreme in their dislike. It throws me out of the story and I just get pissed off and annoyed. I'll probably read more of these if my library gets them, but I've no burning desire to continue the series.”

“Enjoyable mystery in a small town. Dev returns to her hometown after being accused of fraud in her job. She is the prime suspect when her high school boyfriend's fiancee is murdered. Toss in a fiesty granny, a couple of lyal friends and a hunky US Marshall for a well rounded mix. 3.5 stars”

“I'm a sucker for cozies in charming settings. A dimestore drew me right in. The lead character runs a Gift shop and gift basket business. Fun read, interesting characters, and a good enough plot to make you want to read more in the series.
