  • Rachel Morgan: A witch who has discovered that her abilities and lineage come from demons. She used to be an Inderland Security service member. She, Ivy, and Jenks run a freelance runner service called Vampiric Charms.
  • Trent Kalamack: Wealthy and influential Elf. Recently out as an elf, politician.
  • Jenks: Rachel's pixy partner, recently widowed. He has a new increased lifespan due to a spell/curse used by Rachel in a former book to increase his size to human size. Owns the deed to Rachel's graveyard and garden.
  • Ivy Tamwood: Living vampire, Rachel's roommate and co-owner of the independent runner business run out of the co-owned church turned home and business office. Related to a powerful vampire family, Ivy looks to be a very powerful vamp when she becomes an undead. Wants to save her soul and thinks Rachel can help.
  • Algaliarept: Demon who finds Rachel in the first book of the series, and takes her home for a price - the price is a demon mark. Over the series, the two fight a tug of war of power between the demon and the ever-after, and Rachel's status as an earth witch. By this time in the series, Rachel is now known to be a demon, but the child of a witch, still retaining her earth and ley line witch abilities.
  • Wayde Benson: Rachel's bodyguard. Were.
  • Nina: Works at the DMV; also belongs to an as-yet-unknown master vampire
