“Wasn't as shocked by the information in this book as some people seem to be. I love Krakauer but he is a bit of a drama queen. I'm always suspicious of stories told by people about themselves, so when I read Three Cups of Tea I was moved but wary. Even when reading that book I didn't really like or trust Greg Mortenson, and many of his stories seemed sensational enough to be suspicious. I don't think it was purposeful deception as much as self-aggrandizement.

It is, however, a shame that so many people gave so much money that has been squandered on badly planned and wasted projects.

If you've read Three Cups of Tea or Stones for Schools you should definitely do yourself a favour and read this.”
