“while this is a work of fiction, the story is based in fact, and what an amazing story it is! It is the story if a slave, who is freed by the daughter of her owner and sent North to be educated. Her name is Mary and after living in Philadelphis, she goes back to Richmond, posing as a slave again, and works in the home of Jefferson Davis, and spies on him and the Confederacy. I wish I knew more about her life, and what happened to Mary after the Civil War.
