This book wasn't my favorite of the series, but it wasn't a let down either. I think that the romance was good except that Alanna shouldn't have romantically involved herself with Liam when she had George back at home. And also, it was sad that Faithful, Thom, and Liam had to die.

Absolutely loved it - once again, filled with action and romance, but above all great, fully developed characters and a vivid world. The plot of this book is particularly intriguing, and the conclusion to the quartet extremely satisfying, as Alanna battles to find the Dominion Jewel, and becomes the King's Champion. Surprisingly, the introduction of new characters this late in the quartet made it even more satisfying - Thayet and Buri are wonderful, and you feel as if you've known them forever, even if they've only been in one book.

I need to reread this one,
cuz i forget how it goes.
i do remember that baron something-or-other
    pops back to life,
and that poor kid alex dies,
    and the kitten dies,
but what the heck was the dominion jewel?

Book four in the song of the lioness quartet. Alanna has become a knight. Everyone knows how she is. Now that she is a knight she does not know wat to do. New events unfold and Alanna must see to them. If you read the other books in th quartet you have to read this book.

Sir Alanna has decided to travle beyond the reaches of Tortall to see if she can find enough adventure to distract her from her troubles with men. She beings on a quest for the mythical Dominion Jewel and picks up some new friends along the way. Alanna is on her way home when she recieves tragic news, the king is dead and Jonathan must ascend but that's not the only trouble that has been brewing in Tortall since her departure, but has it progressed too far for even Alanna to stop.

    Julia Pupko Book Review

Lioness Rampant by Tamora Pierce is a well-written book. This book is the final book in the Song of the Lioness quartet. In this book, Alanna travels to the Roof of The World- a cold, snowy place in the far north. Alanna travels there to get the Dominion Jewel so Jon can have full power over the land of Tortall for the good of the people and the good of the land. Alanna returns with the jewel to find that her brother, Thom, had brought the evil Duke Rodger back to life and Jon was now king. Rodger tried to take over Tortall by killing Jon with a huge earthquake. Rodger killed Thom when he used up Thom’s entire gift. Alanna stopped Rodger and Jon stopped the earthquake with the jewel. Alanna marries George, the King of Thieves at the end of this book. I would recommend this book.
