Tamora Pierce delivers a wonderful and entrancing interpretation of fantasy, and the role of feminism therein in this first book in the series. A definite must read for any fantasy fans interested in seeing the role of women in the genre, or just out for a good adventure.

This book is about a girl who strives to become a knight. She disguises herself and is brave and strong. This book really shows that girls can do anything that guys can!

Alanna is an amazing character to follow as she fights to deal with her own perceptions of what it means to pretend to be a boy and a page; when really a girl and a kick-ass page!

It was a good starter for the series, and Alanna and her friends are vividly described, and it is a "First Adventure". Unlike the other books in this series, there were fewer subplots. I fell in love with Alanna immediately
