    Julia Pupko Book Review

The Realms of the Gods by Tamora Pierce is a captivating book. This is a captivating book because there is so much action that you can’t put it down. The barrier between the Divine Realms and the Mortal Realms has vanished. The Divine Realms is where the Gods live and where the Immortals live. Diane and Numair have found a very nasty Immortal that kills everything it touches. When Diane and Numair got surrounded by these creatures, Diane’s dad decides to help out. As it turns out, Diane’s dad is a god!! Diane’s dad made her mother a minor god after she died so Diane’s mom and dad live in the Divine Realms together. Diane’s parents brought her and Numair up to the Divine Realms so that they wouldn’t get killed. While Diane and Numair are in the Divine Realms, they realize that they love each other. Now they have to go back to their world since they have to stop the war with the immortal and with the islanders. Ozone, the old Emperor of Carthak (who is now a stormwing) is still causing trouble. Diane and Numair go back to the earth on dragons. They win the war and all is well. I really think this is a great book and I would highly recommend it.

Not as good as the Circle books, but still a great series, and one of my favorites.

Once again, the setting is incredible, as we actually get to see the Realms of the Gods (hence the title). We are also introduced (finally) to not only Daine's parents, but nearly all of the Gods themselves at the end, the climax of which is just as breathtaking as Emperor's Mage. The romance between Numair and Daine, which sort of squicked me out at first, is actually very sweet and beautifully done. A great conclusion.

The Immortals war is in full swing and Diane and Numair find themselves in great danger, until they are sucked into the domain of the gods by Diane's parents. Now the trouble is going to be getting home. As they begin their treacherous journey to the dragon lands Diane and Numair come to grips with their true feelings for each other and Diane has to make a decision between the world of the gods and the realm of Tortall.

I was sad to come again to the end of a terrific series and this book didn't disappoint me. It tied up all loose ends, and made me feel reassured that there was more to tell, but just not now.
