• Nikki Beckett: Main character, in love with Jack Caputo, drawn to the Everneath by Cole after her mother's death. Close friends with Jules. Tries to find a way out of going back into the Everneath.
• Jack Caputo: Nikki's boyfriend. Star quarterback. Friends with Jules. Heart-broken when Nikki disappears and falls back in love with her when she returns. Jules is in love with him, but he wants to be with Nikki.
• Cole Stockton: An immortal from Everneath. Guitarist for the Dead Elvises.
• Tommy Beckett: Nikki's younger brother.
• Maxwell Bones: Member of the Dead Elvises and Meredith Jenkins boyfriend.
• Jules (Julianna) Taylor: Nikki's best friend and Jack's friend.
• Mrs. Strong: Jack and Nikki's English teacher. Helps out with the hieroglyphics on the bracelet Meredith gives to Nikki. Let's Jack and Nikki do extra credit projects in her classroom, serves as a school mentor for them.
• Mrs. Ellingson: Nikki's drug counselor.
• Meredith Jenkins: Destined to be a an Everneath feeder, introduced Nikki to Cole. Maxwell's boyfriend
• Lacey Greene: Jack's former girlfriend, cheerleader at Park City High. Tricked Nikki which made her go to Everneath with Cole.
• Christopher: Manager of the soup kitchen where Nikki completes her community service.
• Will Caputo: Jack's older brother, military veteran with an alcohol problem. Gets drunk and doesn't know where he is 90% of the time. The bartender has to call Jack to take care of him.
• Ezra: Worker at the Shop n Go.
• Gavin: Dead Elvises drummer. Is an Immortal.
• Oliver: Guitarist for the Dead Elvises.
• Carson Smith: Bartender at Mulligan's Saloon, looks out for Will Caputo.
• Mayor Beckett: Nikki and Tommy's father
• Percy Jones: Mayor Beckett's campaign manager.
