A 10-y.o. boy; Peter & his 2 1/2 y.o. sister move away from California, to his mom's hometown; Duskerville. Withinin a week Peter & his neighbor & new best-friend; Dill, discover there are paranormal activity lurking all around this seemingly quiet little college town.

- Peter Normal: Main character of the book. He is a 10 year old boy who is forced to move with his mother and baby sister to a new town; Duskerville, and into a house with his strange grandfather. Peter makes friends with a strange boy named Dill and starts to realize supernatural things happen every since he moved into the new town and the old house
- Beth Normal: Peter's 2 1/2 y.o. Baby Sister
- Melissa Flannagan: Peter's Mom. Moved after she lost her job; legal assist- her boss retired.
- Seamus Flannagan: Peter's Mom's dad; his grandfather.
- Dill Bodinski: Prefer 1st friend & neighbor in Dusketville. They get into many strange/supernatural events together.
- Mrs. Cashew: Peter & Dill's teacher.

- bettyvintage: about a 9 year old boy who when he moves in with his grandfather starts to have weird and supernatural adventures with another 9 year old boy who is his next door neighbor(its been cut up into several small stories)..ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!!
- Jenkins: Deputy Sheriff in charge when head sheriff is away. Has it out for Peter & Dill
- Principal Wooddale: Principle of Peter's school.
- Mercy Chalmers: School mate, dresses odd / old-fashion. She wheezed when she breathes & has wide-apart eyes. Talks to anyone who mistakenly talks to her.....goes on & on about her penny collection. Since Peteeeteeeeer (as she annoying calls him) spoke with her on 1st-day of school,she's fixated on him. Now seeks him out at school, as well as on the bus.

- Willard Flannagan: Peter's Great-GrandFatther (x6).
- Robin Attenbrough: Peter found the story on the internet anout him; an Australian man who had an encounter with the swamp monster, but luckily escaped.

- Rory McCusken: Friend of Greg W. They biked down to Itcheepatucknee to fish any hang. (1-grade hijgher than Peter & Dill).
- Gilbraith Chalmers: Youngest son of John Buchanen Chalmers (15 y.o.), was turned; Vampire. The town's tribe devise a way to capture them & when the sun came up, both camps burst into flames. The town then burned all persons attacked by the vampires & burned them all. Gilbtaith was finally laid to rest on Jan. 2, 1822. One vampire did escape.

- Tad: School bully. Worst kid in 5th grade & of the school.
- Thortenhood Clan: A family of; a Father & his 13x Sons. Had a dispute with Peter's great (x6) grandfather, re.: land.

- Eric Harterll: Head Ranger @Itcheepatucknee State Park, where Peter & Dill go inner tubing. He assures Peter's mom; Melissa, that the boys would be safe, while lifting with her.

- Our Lady Of Perpetual Peace: Catholic church.
- Winnapotakens: Indian tribe that lived 5-miles from Duskerville, in 1820's. They helped rid the town of the vampires. Though stories say the towns people died of cholera. Although people started dying after the burnings & burials. Until someone did something about the problem.
- Itcheepatuknee State Park: Where kids go inner tubing.
