This story begins and ends with the question, "Which is more? 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4?" You might be surprised at what children think about that! A family of spoons send their children to help neighbors on helping day. Teen Spoon (1/2 tsp), Boy Spoon (1/3 tsp), and Girl Spoon (1/4 tsp) help their neighbors measure honey, baking soda, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, coconut shavings and more. They share their ice cream with a gorilla at the town ice cream social that is at the end of every helping day.

The point of this story is to help young children compare fractions of 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4th to realize that 1/4th is the smallest. Also, there is some educational information about these fractions at the end of the story.
