I never cared for it much in high school either, but it was fun to follow Piper along as her birthday approached. I loved her cynicism and her wit. It made for a very fun read. |

In fact, with all the relationships that she’s seen fall apart, both her own and those of people close to her, she’s not even sure that she believes in love at all. But when her best friend’s heart gets broken and her other best friend devises a plan that is sure to give them all a perfect Valentine’s Day, Piper knows it’s her duty as a friend to go along with the plan, no matter how skeptical she is about the results. Between dealing with her family at home, drama at school, and evenings helping at a candy shop, the weeks leading up to the big day are going to test Piper’s patience, her friendships, and even her long-held cynicism. Love is definitely in the air, and this time, it just might be meant for Piper, if she can come to accept that.
Love? Maybe. is a sweet and charming read, although it wasn’t quite the story that I thought it would be. When I first heard about this book, I thought it would be about a bit of a snarky and cynical girl who was completely resistant to love until she finds herself in it. In actuality, Love? Maybe. is a more thoughtful read that deals with Piper’s changing relationships with her family and friends in addition to her romantic drama. Although the story wasn’t as humorous as I wanted it to be, I liked the direction in which Hepler took this story. She goes quite in depth into the nature of Piper’s relationships with almost everyone around her and how these have in the past and still affect her life. This makes for a very realistic and touching, if not always the most engaging, read. In all, I quite enjoyed reading Love? Maybe. for its sweet story and ultimately hopeful ending.
Love? Maybe. is sure to appeal to readers who also enjoyed The Sweetest Thing by Christina Mandelski, A Little Friendly Advice by Siobhan Vivian, and For Keeps by Natasha Friend.

“Perhaps it is because Valentine's day has just passed, but this is a great, light, romantic read.
Piper is a little jaded in the love department. She thinks love is for fools. All it does is cause heartache. Her mom has been divorced 2x, but she still loves the ex who plays with her emotions, who dumped her for a much younger woman. Her best friend Claire has been toyed around with by (now ex) Stuart. All the wasted emotions and time, for what? See! Love stinks.
The second good plot of this story is where Piper works: at a cool candy shop with a cool dude for an owner. No he is not cool in the: I dress in grunge and know the music, but more of- I know I am an adult, and I will treat you with care- and just be cool about the advice I give out. So Jan the owner lets Piper and her friends come up with their own candy recipes and sell them- with great success. The store is almost a magical place of candy and hanging-out. ”
“The book that I just read is called Love? Maybe by Heather Helper This genre of this book is Romance. The point of view that this novel is told by is in first person, in the point of view of the main character that is a high school girl named Piper. In this novel is the main character the main character Piper, learns how to love because she thought that she could never love because she was seen love fail so many times In both her mother and her fathers life. Pipers mother and father got divorced about four years ago and her dad moved away, she never say him again. On the other hand, her mother had then gone through s two more marriages, which also lead to devoice. All of this seems by such a young girl is just hard.
Also a very important thing in the story is that Pipers birthday is on Valentines Day. This is important to the story because in the begging of the novel Valentines Day and Piper were completely different things. One for love and one against, but by the time the novel ends they are almost the same. The first part of this book deals with Pipers friends coming up with a plan to get Piper to start to like guys and accept love for what it really is. In this novel Piper works at a candy shop that is very popular and sell delicious treats for everything, from breakfast to dinner. Working at the candy shop is a huge part in her life. At the middle to end of this novel Piper ends up with the most popular guy in the grade. The writing style in this book is first person like I said before. The style that the writer writes make you wants to read more and see what happened. In this novel there is always an outcome on everything that happens. If I had to rate this book from one to ten I would rate it an eight. It is a really good book, but at some points it is really boring. I would recommend this book to mostly girls because the main character is a girl and this novel is easier for a girl to relate to it than a boy. Over all I would recommend this book.

I thought this had a great cast of characters. They all had their own personality, not blending together. I really liked Charlie. He was good with the little devils (they sure did seem like devils... even if they are just kids) and he even liked them. He fit in so well with Piper's life that I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation. I'm a sucker for the romances where the parties (or half of the party) doesn't realize the perfect person has been right next to them the entire time. Just makes my heart melt a little bit. ”
“I have read cupcake queen by heather helper and I really enjoyed her writing style so maybe I will like this one too? Idk but hopefully I will!;)”
