Unfortunately I was rather disappointed with it. I am no stranger to erotica and have read my share of them. Some of them have been some phenomenal reads, ones that would blow your mind and most likely make you a little embarrassed to even admit you read it. So when ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ came out I was super excited to read it because it really made erotica go mainstream. However after reading it I really do not think ‘Fifty Shades of Grey was very erotic to be honest. I have read an abundance of sex scenes and frankly I thought these were tame and a little on the weak side considering they were supposed to be BDSM style. There really wasn’t much of that style displayed here. I have seen read much better. I also thought the writing lacked quite a bit. I found quite a few scenes that didn’t follow through with the thought or the details were lacking. The dialogue between the characters was terrible. I felt like they discussed the same thing over and over and never got anywhere. It really seemed like they were disagreeing constantly and they only had chemistry in the bedroom and even that lacked for me. When it came to the characters themselves I really didn’t see what the big deal was. Christian didn’t seem like such a big catch to me. I considering him controlling in the worst sense, it wasn’t just in the bedroom. He wanted to control every aspect of Ana’s life. That was extremely annoying to me. I also don’t see why he would want Anastasia Steele to begin with, she drove me crazy. She acts so two faced. She wants to have this halo and say ‘I don’t do those kinds of things’ but then do them with Christian and enjoy them but then go home and cry about them. I really do not get it. She grated on my nerves badly. I was really expecting a great read that I wouldn’t be able to put down when in reality I had to force myself to finish it. I know a lot of people put there loved this book but I just did not get it. Frankly I just don’t think it did erotica justice. I do give her respect for bringing erotica to mainstream reading but that’s about it. This book just didn’t do it for me. ”

I read every night after work until I fell out...just to get up and do it all over the next night for 3 nights. Addictive reading... after finishing the series I read a second time.”

Even though I have never read a book with a dominant and submissive I wasn't shocked by what I read.
Everyone that I know that has read the book told me it was porn for women. I just felt like it was a romance book but with a different spin on it. I don't know anything about the dominant/submissive lifestyle so I can't say if was accurate or not.
Now the characters I got annoyed with Ana. She was just so in your head whining girl. Who would even guess she was graduating college. So she is an Innocent and knows nothing about sex. She is wildly attracted to Christian (who wouldn't be with the descriptions). Now Christian I liked. He kept me interested and I want to learn more about him. Now Ana's friend Kate was a joy. She reminds me of most young girls.
I do plan to read the rest of the series but I am not buying the books. I hope to be able to borrow them from the library or I will just go to B&N and read the book while sitting in the cafe. You need to read the books yourself to decide if you like the book or not.”
