“I read the book wondering what everyone was so worked up about. I had high expectations, believing this would be a really good read, but it was not high up on the bar.
The dialogue in the story was rather low. There wasn't much talking, especially on Ana's part. Her inner musings on her feelings was getting tiring real fast and I ended up skipping some parts of her thoughts. I also felt that the author wanted to use some extensive vocabulary and would pop them in spots she felt she could get away with it.
I had liked the beginning such as how they had met, but then once you got to know Christian it just started going downhill from there. His attitude and personality is very annoying. I would be the last person to ever submit to the extent that he wants. There were several times where I just wanted her to bitch slap him.
As I read through the story my mind kept thinking of abused relationships such as the controlling, the need to know where you are at all times, who you hang out with, controlling every thing you do, the hitting, etc. and the story just continued to be draining, but wondering what was going to happen next kept me going.
So even though the book would not be considered a "must buy" at Wal-Mart in my opinion, I will probably still read the next two books to see what happens.”
