  • Ry Jespen: Central character in the book, who has to overcome a number of personal challenges to fulfil his destiny and save his compatriots. Circumstances force him to recognise his heritage as one of the Sarrhian Seed.
  • Drago Ulm: Son of a trading family whose circumstances change when they become allied with the AGF. Becomes associated with Ry Jespen as one of the Sarrhian Seed.
  • Naima Jespen: Ry's father. A past influential deputy in the galactic senate, like many of his forebears. Must lead the AGF to safety as the ZO closes in for the kill.
  • Bliony Ulm: Drago's sister and, like him, one of the Seed. Ultimately manages much of the evacuation effort from Fallassa, after the Ulms are forced into the arms of the AGF
  • Jake Sollor: Resident of Xualia, and another of the Seed. Becoms the focal point of first contact between Xualia and the wider galaxy.
