- Frank Doel: Main contact at Marks & Co. The letter relationship between Frank and Helene started very formally but Helene was so engaging in her thanks or scolding that it was bound to step into a true friendship.
- Nora Doel: Frank's wife, she also participated in the letter exchanges, many times in thanks for the "care packages" Helene would order to be sent to them with eggs and meats, items that were rationed in the UK until the mid-1950's.
