I love Palahniuk, but this book makes me want to kill myself. How do we escape being puppets of our society? The rest of his works are so uplifting in their conquering of the self imposed external constraints, but this one is all about defeat.

Did Grace and Harrow ACTUALLY die?

In the end do they truly die for the better of the town or is the entire thing a show, a ploy? Harrow does fake his death and goes into hiding for a good ten years so why wouldnt they do it again? If it is fake why does Tabbi have ashes in her urn in the end?

It is possible he could have faked his death again. It's been a while since I've read the book so I would have to look it over again to give you a better explanation. Thank you for the question.
