Characters edit see section history

  • Linh Cinder: The titular protagonist, Cinder is a strong, kind hearted cyborg girl who was adopted by Garan when she was eleven. At that time, her family died in a vehicle accident, which also called the massive trauma that necessitated all of her cybernetic implants. (She cannot remember a thing about her life before her adoption.)
  • Prince Kai: The handsome and kind crown prince of the Eastern Commonwealth who is heir to throne, and will take over if/when his father dies of letumosis. He meets Cinder (the best mechanic in the city) when he takes to Cinder his android which appears to be broken, but the palace mechanics can't find anything wrong.
  • Linh Adri: Cinder's adoptive mother and legal guardian. She despises Cinder and dotes on her two biological daughters, Peony and Pearl. She also despises Cinder and blames her for all ills that have befallen the family.
  • Iko: An android who assists and is a friend to Cinder. She has a glitch in her personality chip, which makes her sometimes forget that she's not human. She has an obsession with shoes.
  • Linh Peony: Cinder's younger "stepsister". She is a kind-hearted, innocent fourteen-year-old girl who has a celebrity crush on Prince Kai. Unlike her mother or older sister, Peony likes Cinder and treats her like a sister. However, she gets letumosis... and Cinder tries her best to find Peony an antidote.
  • Linh Pearl: Cinder's older "stepsister". She is bitter and mean towards Cinder.
  • Dr. Dmitri Erland: The leading scientist of the royal letumosis research team. Meets Cinder when her guardian, Adri volunteers her for the letumosis research.
  • Emperor Rikan: The Emperor of New Beijing and father to Kai. Wanted peace for his country and for the world, but refused to compromise his beliefs to do so. Gets letumosis before the story starts.
  • Konn Torin: The emperor's adviser who tends to keep the peace better than Prince Kai. Has a very polite and professional manner.
  • Queen Levana: The queen of the Lunars. Like most Lunars, she makes herself appear beautiful, and she can control minds. She is manipulative and evil, and tries to make prince Kai marry her so she can be the empress.
  • Sybil Mira: Head thaumaturge (ambassador) who is currently living at the New Beijing palace. She is a Lunar. She is Queen Levana's second-in-command, and described as being exceptionally beautiful.
  • Princess Selene: Queen Levana's niece who is the rightful heir to the throne of Luna. She is thought to be dead, as she was in a terrible fire 13 years ago, presumably set by Queen Levana. Her body was never found, although parts of it were, which leads people to believe she is dead. But is she..?
  • Nainsi: Tutoring droid belonging to prince Kai and brought to Cinder to fix because none of the palace mechanics can seem to find anything wrong.
  • Linh Garan: Cinder's adoptive father, and husband to Adri. Dies of letumosis before the story starts.
