A successful stab at two things in particular: racial/ethnic struggle between ones who belong, and ones who don't; as well as the classic tale of forbidden love. The choregraphy binds it all together - what better wat to tell a story than through song.

West Side Story was a classic play set in the 50's about forbidden love between the two main dynamic characters, Maria and Tony. It is a modern New York twist of Romeo and Juliet, except the two gangs are the Sharks and the Jets. The sharks are a Puertorican gang who dispises the Jets, an all American New York gang. In the end, love and jealously takes over and someone gets shot and dies. I personally recommend this book to people who love an American classic. I like watching the play and movie better than reading the book, but I did enjoy reading it.

OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE West Side Story, I know this whole book bt heart, word for word, all the songs.

It is very similar to Romeo and Juliet with a NYC modern twist.

This is my #1 most favorite book.

I am from the school of thought that plays were meant to be watched and not read. This is the case here. I didn't enjoy reading, but it's a wonderful play to watch.
