- Calvin Matthew Stringel: AKA MechaniCAL. The lead character and narrator, he is devoid of super-powers and operates in an armored suit of his own making.He is resentful of heroes in general, who are less than altruistic, but is willing to work with them if it means saving the world.
- Stacy Mitchell: A super-heroine who goes by the name "Aphrodite". Possessed of psychic powers and member of the Olympians (a Greek god themed group of heroes). She is the main romantic interest in the story.
- Andydroid: Stringel's "best friend", who is also a very polite android.
- Wendy La Guardia: Also known as Whirl Wendy. She is a super-heroine with the ability to create tornadoes. She is otherwise trying desperately to be taken seriously as leadership material.
- Lazarus Patterson: Also known as Ultraweapon. MechaniCAL's rival and greatest enemy.
