  • Nora: Heroine. A high school student working with Chris and Max for Professor 'Hoff' translating Latin scripts as an extra-curricular. Has a difficult home-life that she keeps to herself.
  • Christopher Moore: Nora's best friend and Adriane's boyfriend.
  • Adriane: Nora's other best friend, mostly because she is Chris's girlfriend and they have a third wheel thing going on with Nora, but they remain friends throughout the book with or without Chris. Exceptionally pretty and a closet-geek. Moves with a dancer's grace. Her parents are the only people with whom she is meek
  • Max Lewis: Chris's college roommate, likes Nora. Quiet and shy but mysterious.
  • Eli: Chris's cousin who visits to help Nora clear out Chris' dorm room
  • Professor 'Hoff': The Professor with which Nora, Chris and Max are studying the Voymich manuscript for. The 'Hoff' is considered crazy by his colleagues and does little work himself.
