Funny read. Blair is really witty and has a serious attitude problem. Wyatt is a real alpha male- bossy and demanding. A quite interesting combination.
I don't know why but I liked the second book in this series more.

Blair Mallory owns a fitness center "Great Bods". When one night she witnesses the murder of her look-a-like, she come in contact with Lt. Whytt Bloodsworth, whom she dated 2 years back. She is determined to give him a cold shoulder but he is a force to be reckoned with.
When the culprit is caught Blair relaxes. But a series of life threating incidents happen Whytt is convinced she is in danger, and she must go into hiding until whoever is behind those attacks is caught.
The story is narrated by Blair so we don't get to know Whytt's feeling clearly. Blair is very confident and the story holds her own emotions honestly and clearly. she never hides what she feels and is quite outspoken

As I started reading this book, the heroine reminded me of another Howard character therefore I thought we have another Daisy Minor (OPEN SEASON) in the making...except Daisy was naïve and hysterically funny, but nowhere as silly as Blair Mallory.

Confident, sexy and beautiful pretty much sum up businesswoman, Blair. When she was a teenager, she knew what it was like to be envied by girls who aspired to be cheerleaders. But while her cheerleading days are over, the jealousy continues as she would find out when a troubled gym member becomes fixated on her. It started with the hair, then the makeup and clothes, and finally the car she drives. Then one night, as she leaves the gym, she witnesses the shooting murder of her copycat. Was it a case of mistaken identity, or was Nicole the intended victim?

As the police establish the reason behind the murder, Blair thought she could finally relax. But when a series of near-death accidents befall her, it was up to Lt. Wyatt Bloodsworth to convince Blair that she must continue hiding until the police uncover who is out to get her. But if Wyatt has a reputation for being a force to be reckoned with, he's in for a tough fight as he tries to prevent Blair from sticking her nose where she's not wanted. As for Blair, her hormones will once again start raging as she comes face to face with the man she dated two years ago.

I have enjoyed many of Linda Howard's novels and have admired her talent for blending wit, romance and thriller in most of her stories. I was expecting to find the same with TO DIE FOR and was unfortunately disappointed. While the humor managed to be entertaining, the crime side failed to meet expectations. The plot is rather weak in comparison to her similar novels like DREAM MAN or OPEN SEASON. The story lacked suspense and it was lacking the usual build-up to the ending as usually seen in how Howard profiles the killer. Don't expect that in this book. As for the main characters, Blair is actually funny although it is easy to overdose on her silliness. I guess the fact that this was written in first person adds to the silliness. Wyatt is your typical Howard hero so expect nothing less than pure testosterone. Their banters provide much laughter, although there was nothing exciting in the romance area. Overall, this was an entertaining enough book, but just not on par with other Howard novels.

This is a romantic suspense story. Where the main character, Blair, is being persued by someone who is trying to kill her after she witnesses a murder. Lieutenant Wyatt Bloodsworth leads the investigation, but a murky romantic past with Blair, leads to a complex mix of wounded pride and undeniable attraction. I found myself laughing out loud with Blair's quirky character. She's a bit of a ditzy blond, but the inner dialogue makes her a wonderful read.
    Great entertainment!

Blair Mallory had been on three dates with Wyatt Bloodsworth when he leaves and never calls her back. He doesn't explain why he walked away, from what was turning into a very serious relationship. For two years Blair hadn't had nary a word from him until she witnesses a murder in the parking lot of the gym she owns. Wyatt is a lieutenant on the police force. After fearing that it was Blair who has been shot, he narrows his focus to one thing, and that is to get Blair back. Blair however is having none of it. If Wyatt hurt her once than he is definitely capable of hurting her again.

To Die For is told in the first person from Blair's point of view. I found Blair's narration of the story to be very funny and personable. It seems as if Blair is your close friend and she is retelling the story of how she and Wyatt fell in love.

Wyatt and Blair's courtship is a battle of wills. Wyatt wants Blair and Blair wants Wyatt to suffer for walking away two years ago without a backward glance or an explanation. She is going to make sure Wyatt works hard to get her back. Wyatt is a former football player and to say he loves a challenge is an understatement. What Wyatt wants Wyatt gets and most of the time he doesn't play fair. That's okay because Blair can be just as sneaky and underhanded as him. This leads to some of the most memorable scenes in any book I've read.

The conversations between Wyatt and Blair are very well done. They are what make this book so great. Wyatt is your typical manly man and not one to talk about his feelings. These conversations are essential and give insight into what Wyatt is thinking and feeling. This is really important since the book is told from Blair's point of view.

The mystery portion of this book was very weak. It didn't bother me so much because I was much more focused on the romance, but it might really bother readers who are mystery buffs. When I read the book the first time I didn't even notice the ridiculousness of the killers identity. Even with the new awareness of To Die For's weakness, I still found it a very enjoyable read and it still remains a favorite.

This is a nice romantic suspense, though it reads like a cozy (in first person). It's different than other books. Good drama, plenty of action and nice romance.

To Die For by Linda Howard is a very suspenseful and exciting novel. You really don’t know what is going to happen at the end.
