Good book. There wasn't much of a mystery, who done it plot, but their survival after the plane crash was plot enough. I didn't really buy how quickly Cam decided he was in love. One minute he's knocked out and the next he's in love with a woman he never liked? Still, it was a fun read.

Not one of her best. The two charactes are in a plne crash and have to survive in the cod, mountainous terrain to return to civilization. She is a widow woh takes care of her adult stepchildren's money because theire father didn't want them to spend it all. Thyey return toe mountains after they are rescued to try to discover who tried to kill them. This was a surprise ending, I had suspected this person, but changed my mind.

After months of overseeing their inherited millions in trust funds, Bailey Wingate decides to take a vacation and get away from her late husband's greedy, resentful adult children. When the small private plane malfunctions and the pilot heroically crash lands it in the mountains, Bailey and Captain Cam Justice must rely on each other and their ingenuity to survive the threats of freezing and starvation until they're rescued. Even as they discover that the engine failure was no accident, they discover their mutual trust and attraction increasing by the hour.

This was my first Linda Howard book, and I was pleased to find it so interesting. The intrigue, romance and survival story were all exciting, and I didn't want to stop listening. The audio medium was also new to me: the little gum-pack sized self-contained digital device called a PlayAway was very handy; I just added earbuds.

Although everyone believes Bailey Wingate is yet another throphy-wife, her marriage to Jim Wingate was merely a business arrangement. Jim needed someone to oversee the trust funds of his two adult, good-for-nothing children and Bailey, as his PA and quite investment savvy, was the perfect choice.
Now Jim's dead and Bailey has to suffer through endless tantrums from her step-children, who hate her guts.

Apparently they hate her enough to kill her, since, while flying to her two-week vacation, her Cessna runs out of gas and it's only thanks to the calmness of her pilot, Cameron Justice, the Bailey, the plane and the pilot don't splatter over a mountaintop.

Now the two are stranded in the snowy wilderness with (almost) zero chance of being rescued, having to rely on their own ingenuity and each other...

This was one heck of a book. In someone else's "hands" the almost claustrophobic atmosphere with just two characters and a whole lot of wilderness would have buried the story, yet Linda Howard skillfully maneuvered the plot, masterfully twining the scenes with Bailey and Cam with little tidbits about the secondary characters.

While the romance did seem a little rushed at times, specially toward the end (the two didn't even like each other at the beginning!), the explanation was utterly plausible and believable. Stranded for six days with only one person for company, one is bound to develop some feelings toward their companion...
Bailey and Cam were nicely drawn and Bailey's development extremely well done, adding a tad more to making the story-arc believable.

I was surprised by how well the suspense part played out. The author masterfully led the reader to assume who the bad-guy was (wonderful delineation of the character, his inner turmoil, the hide-and-seek of clues), making the grand finale with its humongous and completely unexpected twist that more jaw-dropping.

Kudos to the author. This is definitely a keeper.
