A book to make you think.

I'm predisposed to like this book. This is something I've been looking into, slowly. I was excited about finding some tips for the greener life even though I'm only a middling fan of Kingsolver's (good writer, sometimes a bit preachy).

I just love this book. Kingsolver, her husband, and two daughters commit to a year of eating off the land...anything they could grow or buy at the local farmers' market. The book is filled with humor, good thinking, and a humanity that Kingsolver always manages to bring to her writing. Outstanding!

Made me think, really enjoyed the writing and narrative, changed my ways but not as drastically as she did.

Thinking back to this book several weeks after reading it, I like it better all the time! I didn't agree with every point she made, but I thoroughly enjoyed her humor, and admire the Kingsolver family for taking on this adventure.

It feeds into my fantasy of being a self-sufficient family and teaching my children about how to live healthily in harmony with nature. I loved reading about her adventures and now that I've tried a little more gardening, I marvel at what she accomplished!

This book was transforming for me. It made me feel connected to the earth and the world that I live on in a way that seemed completely foreign to me prior to reading.
