I read both books by the Sheffs, father and son. I guess I read it more from the parent's view...but I was astonished at the difference. The father's book spoke of how his life has basically revolved around this child and was filled with stories of love, anguish, hope and despair...all of it triggered by and surrounding his son. The son's book barely speaks of the father at all. It is a tale of self-centeredness and complete disconnect from the feelings of others for the most part. Probably part of the addictive process and/or personality. It was enlightening, the difference between the two books. The father's was gut-wrenching and sad, and somehow, so was the son's.

I feel like I have read about addiction enough, what about this book sets it apart from all of the others?
