In Her Shoes MovieTie-in: A Novel

by Jennifer Weiner

The Feller sisters are equal but opposite. Maggie is the good-looking, dyslexic little sister who knows how to get anything she wants--but not how to keep it. She "felt as if somewhere between the ages of fourteen and sixteen she'd walked off the edge of a cliff and had been falling ever since." Rose is the plump, practical, responsible older sister who knows about law but not much about her... (read more)

I really liked this book because I thought Jennifer Weiner showed a very good understanding of the age groups about which she wrote. There's the responsible older sister, the irresponsible younger sister, and the grandmother. I loved Weiner's descriptions of the retirement village and those who lived in it. The way she brought generations of women together was funny, often very touching, and from my experience, quite accurate. I would definitely read Weiner again, and I'd recommend In Her Shoes to anyone who enjoys chick-lit with interesting diversity in age groups.

If you have a sister this book is for you! This book is the story of two sisters who couldn't be more opposite. What I love about the story is that Jennifer Weiner, the author, is so good at capturing that "sister" relationship. She really demonstrates, so well, the love-hate feelings that often flow between sisters and how no matter what awful things are done to each other you still always love the other one. It is also a great journey book. You see both the sisters go through a journey to figure out who they are and what they want. Another central character, the gradmother, also goes through quite an arc as she finds herself through her long lost grandaughters. Overall and enjoyable read!

This book is about two sisters that are very different. One is a lawyer that has no fun in her life, and the other is a free spirit that takes nothing seriously. In this book, the sisters' differences ends up bringing them together. I really enjoyed this book because it shows how family is always there for you.

Fun book about two very different sisters. One is a lawyer and doing well in her professional life. In her love life, things are not that great, although she has started to see a colleague. The other sister is dyslexic and did not do well at school. She has had many different, menial, jobs, but keeps getting fired or walks out herself.

When the second sister is without a job, money, or place to live, she comes to stay with her sister. However, since their life styles are so different, this doesn't really work out. Then something happens which makes both sisters review their lives and make a serious change in how they are living.

Rose has always taken care of her sister Maggie, until Maggie does the unthinkable. The complexity of family relationships is explored as Maggie and Rose try to reconcile. Well written story about sisters and family. Will appeal to fans of Chick Lit genre, but depth of the story should ensure some cross genre appeal.

I really liked this book! If you've only seen the movie, I highly recommend reading this! The book has MANY different parts/twists than the movie. I read the book first and was disappointed in the movie.

If you even liked the movie - you'll love the book! The book, as usual, was better!

A fun, breezy read about two sisters, one beautiful but klutzy, the other kinda fat but organized.
