Didn’t Like It“Changing a traditional children' story can either be genius or disastrous and I believe Alan Moore and Melinda Gebbie menaged to do both. Moore literally perverts strongly imprinted childhood tales into pornography too shocking to sit through yet still manages to maintain a certain brilliance in his writing.
It's not something i would recommend, and defiantly not something for the prudish or faint of heart but it is i would say one of the most daring works of current times.”
“Alan Moore's admirable attempt at creating a serious work of pornographic literature and he nearly but not quite pulls it off. Lush artwork and beautiful production enhance the final product immensely”

At least in its nice edition, it's a bit pricey for my budget, however, and as smut it's not going to be stocked by the library.
It's delightfully lyrical smut, based on the erotic exploits of the beloved (but now grownup) Wendy from Peter Pan, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, and Alice from Alice in Wonderland. The drawings and text fit together well. It has a total fairytale quality I recommend it highly (well as long as your a fan of literary smut).

“I've read the first volume (of three) and found it delightful, so I will slow the pace at which I read them. They are richly detailed in their art, so I feel they will be best at a slower pace -- more a reward than a read. The concept is marvelous. Having just seen Watchmen on the big screen, I was drawn to this work from Alan Moore.”

It is a highly ambitious, sophisticated, and - last but not least - intelligent novel drawing upon various sources and giving all of them a unique twist. It's also quite obviously pornographic. (Moore himself refused to call it "erotica", as he doesn't approve of the taboo on all things sexual - especially in light of the fact that violence is considered perfectly normal entertainment.)
All in all, "Lost Girls" is a stimulating read, and a graphic novel in every sense of the word.”

I didn't like the artwork, I didn't like the annoying stereotypes employed, I didn't think the work caught the spirit of the decadent pre-war society properly, I felt it tried desperately to make witty intercultural associations - the trademark of Alan Moore's work - in vain, remaining superficial and frivolous until the end. They'll try to sell you this thing for big money as if it were a jewel of erotic art, but it's not really. If that's what you're looking for, stick to your Serpieri, your von Gotha, Crepax and such...”
