Cast of Characters
- Alyxandria Blackett/Montgomery: All the way back to camp, she held on to the saddle and watched Reine's blood seep down his thigh. The horse, smelling blood, began to prance, and as a reflex, Raine clutched with his knees to control the animal. Alyx felt him stiffen at the pain that caused. "Perhaps you could calm him with your songs." he said quietly "With my noise, don't you mean?" she answered,still hurt by his words. "As you wish, " he said stiffly. Alyx had never heard this tone before, but she recognized it as a voice covering pain. He said his wound wasn't bad, but it showed no sign of ceasing to bleed. Now was no time to be angry. She began to sing and the horse calmed. "I will have to show you to my brothers," he murmured. "They won't believe this unless they see it."
- Raine Montgomery: younger brother to Gavin Montgomery and outlawed by the king due to rumor of the Chatsworth who raped their sister who then threw herself out a high window of the keep and died. Leader of the band of outlaws in this particular wood.
- Joceline: bard who killed Edward Chatworth, Robert Chatworths older brother and Alice Chatworths husband. Is in love with Rosamund and a friend to Alyx and Raine.
- Rosamund: the camp healer, in love with Joceline, an outlaw due to the birth mark deemed a devils mark on her face.
- Blanche: a former cook of Chatworth household staying at the outlaw camp, a trouble maker who was interested in Raine. and irritated by the she boy that was Alyx.
- John: brother to the mysterious man who helped Alyx out of the trouble with Lord Pagnell the first time and escorted her to the outlaw camp.
- Elizabeth Chatworth: sister to Roger Chatworth, Brian Chatworth, in law sister to Alice Chatworth. abducted by Lord Pugnell and his man and sent to Miles Montgomery as a diversion to and payback to the Montgomerys.
- Lord Pagnell: Earls son of near properties to the village of Moreton where Alyx and her father lived. Heard the beautiful voice of Alyx and decided to take her and when she resisted and fled embarasing him in front of his cohorts. He exacted revenge upon her by breaking into her home killing her father and trying to abduct her and burn her at the stake as a "witch" she escapes the first to times and further fuels his anger as the 2nd time she leaves him with the parting gift of a scar in self defense. the 3rd time he manages to actually get her set up and almost burned when Raine steps in and saves the day.
- Roger Chatworth: Brother to Elizabeth, Edward, and Brian Chatworth, brother in law to Alice Chatworth. and enemy to Stephen Montgomery who bested him on a battle field over Bronwyn, Stephens entended at the time betrothed by the king. and tried to stab Stephen in the back when he lost to him in joust. angry and spouting rumors to get the Montgomerys in trouble with the king and succeeding. Is out for blood over Elizabeths abduction and also misinformed over it. also up in ire to Miles
