This is the crown jewel of O'Neill's plays. It's a truly tragic and beautiful play, nakedly autobiographical, which nearly shattered O'Neill to write. (See the American Masters documentary on O'Neill - it really gives you a lot of insight into the man and his work). So moving. I agree that to really experience it to the utmost, you need to see it performed. I've seen it done onstage with Vanessa Redgrave, Brian Dennehey, and Philip Seymour Hoffman (who was amazing as Jamie), but I still think...

    which is more dysfuctional Running with scissors or this novel? I like to read about people zanier than my own life so perhaps this reflection(although on the dark side of life) would re-empasiza my so called "normalcy"
