Edward Tulane was a china rabbit who was pampered, and preciously cared for by his owner, Abilene. Abilene bought Edward silk outfits and a pocket watch. As I read I thought Edward as a real person instead of a china rabbit. But Edward did not care... read more (warning: may contain spoilers)

Cast of Characters/Important People

  • Edward Tulane: A haughty, selfish, spoiled china rabbit who is later lost at sea and begins his miraculous journey.
  • Abilene: A loyal owner who loves Edward with all of her little heart and cares for him as if he were a rabbit-child.
  • Pellagrina: A very old woman who can look deep inside of Edward and see that he does not care for Abilene... for anything... or does he?

First Sentence

Once in a house on Egypt street, there lived a rabbit who was made almost entirely out of china.
