  • Aaron King: A private investigator, but not his real name. He drives a cadillac and appears to by stylish like Elvis Presley.
  • Aaron Parker: Also known as Fang and the American Vampire. In the previous 2 books, he was chatting online with Sam, but wouldn't reveal his identity. He said he could be called Eli Parker, but his real name is Aaaron Parker. He is missing his eye teeth. He's in love with Sam.
  • Anthony Moon: Sam and Danny's son, who is very sick. He's 7 years old.
  • Captain Jack: One of the men who kidnapped Maddie, killed her mother Lauren
  • Carl Luck: Drug dealer, one of the men who kidnapped Maddie, killed her mother.
  • Chad Helling: Sam's ex-partner, a federal agent
  • Danny Moon: Sam's ex-husband
  • Detective Sherbet: A doughnut-eating detective who liked Sam, often helped her out
  • Eddie: A disrespectful permanent guard at the Wharton Museum.
  • Fang: Sam's internet chat best friend
  • Franklin: Kingsley's butler, a very strange man, who maybe made of several different people.
  • James: When Sam was going through video tapes with the MacDonald's manager, he called her a regular James Bond.
  • Jim Knighthorse: One of several Private Investigators hired to look initially for Maddie.
  • Kingsley Fulcrum: Defense attorney, sometimes love interest of Sam's
  • Lauren: Maddie's crack head drug addled mother who was "kilt" according to Maddie.
  • Madison "Maddie" Monk: A young girl who has started calling Sam
  • Mary Lou: Sam's older sister, who knows she is a vampire
  • Spinoza: Private Investigator
  • Mr. Wharton: A protective ghost at the Wharton museum, who help Sam find a dead body and the stolen artifact still in the museum.
  • Ms. Dickens: She is in charge of the Wharton museum and asked Sam to solve the case.
  • Ms. Moon: See Samantha "Sam" Moon
  • Rachel Hanner: A detective investigating a murder/kidnapping.
  • Samantha "Sam" Moon: Mother, wife, private investigator...vampire, former federal agent
  • Spinoza: Another private detective hired with several others to find "the big black man" and Maddie. He was drinking, got in an accident and killed his son in the process. Spinoza is overcome by guilt.
  • Tammy: She is Sam's daughter.
