First book in a while to make me wish I had the money to get a movie made; I think "The Ant of the Self" especially would make an incredible film.”

The good thing about short stories is that if you don't like one of them, you can move on to the next. Unfortunately, I didn't find many of these characters sympathetic or all that interesting.”

The collection is fresh, ZZ's voice is strong and concise and the situations are universal. I had the opportunity to meet ZZ's acquaintance about a year ago, and she was very down to earth and gave some insight into many of her characters. "The Ant of the Self" and "Geese" are also two more of my favorite stories from the collection. ”

They are stunning, both in clarity and content. ZZ Packer's ability is prismic and her storytelling lodges gray. My favorite of this collection is "The Ant of the Self," a moving piece about a son and his dad and birds.”
