“Good and exciting and fast paced--worth the read!”

“A man gets off the bus one day to see himself walking across the street. Confusion insues. He finds himself running from one clue to the next, hiding from mercenaries sent to kill him and protecting his 'former' sister. When he discovers others who have been 'shifted', a plot from the beginning of time begins to both reveal itself and hide itself deeper. I liked the action but the plot didn't really develop until about halfway through the book.”

The action was forefront of the book but the motivations were cleverly woven into the story. The thing that I was disappointed with was where the theology ended. There were numerous references to the Old Testament: Cain and Abel, Noah, Jacob wrestling with the Angel of the Lord and the Angel of Death from Exodus. It seemed a very Old Testament only theology.
The discussion on free will was sound, but just stopped too soon. As Romans tells us we are all sinners and there is not even one who seeks God. We do not use our free will to seek God. The author also clearly showed how even our motivation to do good is grounded in selfish motives, for fame, money, power, appreciation, acceptance or even to gain love. The disappointing factor for me is that it was not once referred to that Messiah came and died to break those bonds that keep us enslaved to sin and set us free to choose righteousness, because of the transforming power of Christ in us. In fact, I thought the ending showed a very non-Christian, humanistic view. Mankind makes a sacrifice and love triumphs. The ending just wasn't enough for me.
Still, it was a well written, suspenseful read.”
“The blurb at the back of this book, says "....the pace is Relentless." This is so true with this novel. You hit the ground running, trying to keep up with Grant trying to find out who the other man who he recognises as himself is from the other side of the street.
Parrish immediately has you attention and he does not loose it until the last page. You are instantly taken in and part of this story. You cannot put it down. Chapter upon chapter adds layers of mystery, intrigue and suspense as the plot thickens around what is happening and has happened to Grant since he was Shifted and those who he has met who have suffered the same fate.
Parrish has developed the story line very well and the characters just as well. The main character, Grant, fits in well with the support characters and vice versa.
For a debut novel, we need to watch Parrish. I have waited to buy the third novel, Merciless, before starting to read this trilogy. I am glad I did as I could not wait until the next for the next one if I had read them as they were released.
I won't spoil the story line here, it is worth reading this for yourself. You won't be able to put it down, and if the title of this first volume is called Relentless and is at a relentless pace, then it leaves you Breathless by the end!!!
Highly recommended. ”
“FANTASTIC book, and I don't normally like this genre! Highly recommend this book, as well as the rest of the trilogy ("Fearless" and "Merciless").
One other thing I loved about this book (and the trilogy, in general) is that the Christian message is REALLY hidden... even my non-Christian husband LOVED this series, and normally he won't touch the books I read with a ten-foot pole! LOL. :P”
