A really good novel. Good characters each with their own challenges and a view of agribusiness and mass production of our food supply. Will make you all want to start a veggie garden.

Excellent read. Ozeki is a great storyteller. She creates interesting characters and situations. Highly recommend this if you like somewhat quirky books.

Another great book by Ruth Ozeki. Makes you question everything your eating.

You'll be scared of what you regularly eat after you sample this wonderful novel by the author of "My Year of Meats." The book mixes a potato grower's story in Idaho with a anarchist group of true foodies--adds a dash of wayward children in Hawaii and an evil marketing genius in DC--the result is scrumptious!

The book moved at a slow pace, but was a good story.

The main character is a little annoying--but Ozeki is wonderful at weaving nature and narrative. Good book!

Nice book, entertaining, but not very real for me. That is, I found it hard to get drawn into the story, and it really was just a story. The people did not come alive for me. The main character, Yumi, was not particularly likeable and I did not understand her bevaviour. Otherwise, it was a pleasant read and it was interesting to learn a bit more about GM foods, etc. The story does have a happy ending of sorts, even though it takes two people to die before things turn around. If you haven't read anything by Ozeki, go for My Year of Meat first. That is a great book! [I read the Dutch translation]
