Vellum is, in my opinion, what would happen if Neil Gaiman and James Joyce co-authored a work together, without being derivative of either author. The thematic elements of mythological characters and their pervasiveness in today's world is strikingly similar to Gaiman's work both in the Sandman comic series and his novels. The execution, though, is far more Joyceian in that time is not linear and all of the "characters" act more as archetypes than characters. Meaning that one character...

Didn’t Like It

I don't even know where to start. It was horrible. To me the story was not coherent at all, it was like trying to read something someone wrote while they were high. He topic hopped on nearly every paragraph, it was like he thought if I use all these ideas at once instead of flesh them out into several stories I'll have less work to do! I've read some reviews that praise this book but I just don't see it.

    I loved it in the beginning and then struggled through it. I don't think I could recommended it to anyone. There was a good story, but it was far too jumbled and I still don't really feel like I know what exactly happened and if the plot even became resolved.

    Has anyone read the second book?
