De geheime diensten leverden Kennedy de bewijzen daarvan. Hij kondigde een blokkade af en riskeerde daarmee oorlog. Maar Rusland trok zich terug. Deze historie vormt de kern van Topaz. In de uitwerking is veel romantiek en fiction verwerkt. Hoewel nog steeds spannend, is het verhaal toch deels achterhaald en verouderd.”

Yes | No“Topaz has a suspense thriller feel to it...its nice to escape into a different world... they also made a movie and the beginning of the movie was so intriguing ...when after a few minutes of a silent car chase... I think the power was cut!...I just had to go get the book and read it... of course that lead me to read other books by leon uris.”

Yes | No“This is an older book than some, but when it first came out everyone thought is was a work of fiction. Then, the story was broken that it really was true! A Russian scientist and his family really did defect to the US and were living in a fortessed southern compound after having undergone plastic surgery and reprograming. Read it. You should like it. I think the fact that it was a true story made the book memorable.”
