“Book three in the Lucky Harbor series, We have the third, and youngest sister, Chloe trying to prove to her sisters, and herself, that she has matured and is a valuable part of the renovated Bed and Breakfast left to them by their Mother.
Chloe was the only child actually raised by their mother. Mother was a free spirit, so Chloe was raised unconventionally. Her insecurities were masked by frequent severe Asthma attacks. Can Sheriff Sawyer help calm the attacks and help Chloe find the strength to say the magic words "I Love You" to her Sisters, Sawyer, and even to herself?
This book has romance, laughter, tears, and action. You finish it wondering what will happen to the characters in the future. Luckily, there are more novels out there to explore.”
“Chloe and Sawyer's story. The wild child falls for the former bad boy turned sheriff. Sparks fly, asthma attacks and mud baths. Fun read. 3.75 stars”

I now have a serious *author crush* on Jill Shalvis-she knows how to write a sexy Alpha man. Sawyer *dreamy sigh* is made up of all the qualities I like: tall, sexy, a Sheriff (I have a thing for Sheriffs in a story), a man with few words but lots of action and the list goes on....
Chloe (The Wild Child) is the youngest of the three sisters of the Lucky Harbor Series. Jill Shalvis did a superb job of giving the reader the opportunity to watch Chloe grow into a wonderful woman. I felt all of Chloe's emotions from how she felt about her sisters and what she believed they thought of her to her, her friendship and love for a friend suffering from a debilitating illness, to her struggle with her feelings for Sawyer. Chloe and Sawyer were ideal for each other. He brought the stability and *fine line* that she needed and she brought the wildness and challenges that he needed.
The reader finally see the sisters come together as true sisters after a long journey of getting to know each other. There was so much emotions with well developed characters in this story. Head Over Heels is a winner in my book. This is a series that is worth reading and losing your self in it.

“The first book I've read by Shalvis - I'll have to go back and read the rest of the series. Likable (and believable) characters. ”

It did a good job of developing the relationship between a couple who each felt alone even with loving family and friends. Sheriff Sawyer always seems to be finding Chloe in some kind of trouble.”

My Look:
Can a former nomad with a troublemaking personality fall for a no-nonsense, straight-laced sheriff?
Chloe Traeger lost her mother, but she has found her half-siblings. Also, she has found a home in Lucky Harbor and a business in the bed and breakfast that she and her siblings run, and Chloe is working her own little side business. She's brewing up all natural spa products for clients.
This settled lifestyle is totally new to her, and she tries to prove herself dependable in this environment, but it's not easy to tame her nomadic ways.
Chloe lived with a mother who went from place to place and campsite to campsite in the groupie/hippie scene. Unfortunately, that lifestyle never allowed for long-term connections to anyone; Chloe learned that love was a passing kind of thing with people who flowed in and out of life the way waves lap the shore, never staying always retreating. In addition, when she tells the truth, she doesn't find anything wrong with the way she and her mother lived, except maybe her near crippling asthma.
Nevertheless, she does care for her sisters, and she cares about building the businesses. But Chloe cares just as much about rescuing dogs, before they're made to fight to the death.
Sheriff Sawyer Thompson knows Chloe has been up to something. She usually always is. No matter how much he warns her, no matter how close she's come to jail time, Chloe refuses to let the law handle it.
He would have saved the animals. He's been waiting to get this guy. Right now, he should put this woman in his car, take her to the station, and charge her with everything he could think of, starting with breaking and entering. However, he didn't. Instead, he was checking the wounds she caught, telling Chloe she needs a tetanus shot, inhaling her scent, and feeling that smoldering heat. Moreover, it wasn't because he was just like her, years ago, causing trouble and mayhem, and it was not because she lost her mother or because his mother left his family long ago.
There was more to Chloe then her asthma, her daring streak, and her body parts. Okay. Maybe he'd been interested in those body parts for a while now, but he really wanted to know her, and that was something that just did not happen to Sheriff Sawyer Thompson.
Didn't he have enough with just his own problems with allowing the lustful feelings for the woman to become something else?
He has a near alcoholic father who hates him for past crimes, and who doesn't, can't, or won't see Sawyer as an upright man of the law, now. His father would pay a stranger for mowing the grass and a handy man for fixing up the house before he'd accept Sawyer's help with anything.
However, when these two get together, will Sawyer let go of his no-nonsense persona to find his passionate side with her? Can she even take part in her own desires with this airway clogging, sex inhibiting disease?
My Take:
I recommend HEAD OVER HEELS by Jill Shalvis!
This is a tale about family, friends, health and romance. Jill Shalvis constructs a story to combine these elements and a full on sexy romance, and she achieves that goal.
In HEAD OVER HEELS, the reader will find characters that are blending their lives, maturing in their lives, and falling in love along the way. You will feel worry over Chloe and feel happy for her siblings, but most of all, you'll feel warm all over for Sawyer and Chloe.
This is the third book in A LUCKY HARBOR series. Moreover, it stands alone. However, you'll definitely want to read IRRESISTIBLE (Forever October 2010) and THE SWEETEST THING (Forever April 2011) to see the history these characters have with each other, and why readers are visiting Lucky Harbor.”
“As the only one of three half-sisters actually raised - if you can call it that - by their footloose and free-spirited mother, Chloe Treager didn't have a traditional childhood. Since then she's spent her life living exactly as she's wanted. Irresponsible, sometimes, larcenous, occasionally, but she lives life on her own terms.
Chloe had been drawn into helping renovate, co-own, and run the Bed & Breakfast left for her and her half-sisters when their mother died, and the three women who started out as strangers have slowly grown closer in the interim, becoming tentative friends, even contentious family. More and more lately the wild child is feeling things, thinking things she's never thought or felt before. Words like home, roots, and family are taking on whole new meanings. It's both terrifying...and a little thrilling.

Sheriff Sawyer Thompson has been the bane of her existence since she arrived in town, dogging her steps the whole way. Sexy, solid, and utterly inflexible, he's like the poster child for anti-fun. He obviously doesn't approve of her, which is fine, as she doesn't much care for him, either...even though that body of his does make her reach for her asthma inhaler whenever he's in sight. And the intensity with which he's been looking at her lately is making her wonder just how many laws she would need to break to snap his ironclad control.
Between her limitations, though, and his steely spine, any scenario between the two of them could only be a pipe dream. Right?

As one of the most dependable of my go-to authors for fun, sexy contemporary romance, I've read several books by Shalvis. Not once have I been disappointed. It was no surprise that the Lucky Harbor book I had been most looking forward to was such a darn good time. I'd have been stunned if it hadn't been. There's just something about the combination of characters and story that Shalvis creates that hits my happy reader buttons just right. Sure, some books hit them harder than others, but all have entertained. With this one, she's delivered my favorite of the three sisters' books and thrilled me with the glimpse of the future installment. I'm so glad this series is continuing, because both the town and the inhabitants of Lucky Harbor are wonderfully quirky and comfortably familiar and I'm not ready to pick up stakes and leave town limits just yet.
Finally, finally happy readers get a closer look at the inner workings of former bad boy and current straight arrow Sawyer Thompson. He's a whole lotta yum wrapped up in a Sheriff's uniform. I loved his quiet intensity and his inner demons, and I was thrilled by how he struggled with his desire for the one woman who he thought was the worst woman possible for him. Solid, strong, kind, dependable, he was steel wrapped around granite imprisoning a wild, untamed passion.
And he and the wild child were perfect for each other.

Speaking of the wild child, I think it was Chloe's emotional journey and personal evolution that touched me the most deeply in this book. Her childhood was not the stuff of fairy tales and dreams. Seeing things from her side, exploring the ghosts of her past and finally understanding that being the child that their mother kept wasn't necessarily a good thing, was important in this book. It redeemed a character who came off as flighty, self involved, and irresponsible in the first book...marginally better in the second...and added a poignant depth to her character that Chloe herself would probably scoff at before acknowledging.
This book is pure Jill Shalvis romance fun. And unlike the previous book, which I felt gave too little attention to the sister relationships, this book had plenty of great scenes with Maddie, Tara, and Chloe together. I had felt there was still a lot of room for development between the three of them and I was thrilled that they were given the plot threads and page time to fully evolve and cement their bonds as sisters. Oh, and for the record, Chloe's friend Lance broke, crushed, and stomped on my heart. That poor guy just killed me. I'm praying for a fictional miracle there, I have to be honest.
My hat is once again off to Shalvis for providing such a fine bit of reading enjoyment. There seemed to be less relationship angst or heartache in this book than in the previous book, which I appreciated. There was also an ancillary suspense plot arc that was nice. Oh, and of course there was a very healthy amount of sizzling sex. It wouldn't be a Shalvis book without the sexy love scenes. Or the humor that was liberally sprinkled throughout this book. I just adored the Chloe-isms. In short, Head Over Heels is a completely feel good romance and classic Shalvis entertainment, and I can't wait for my next fix.
