“I was not expecting to finish Wintertown but it ended up being a book I enjoyed for the holiday season. It’s a good winter read because it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside, well most of the time. When I didn’t feel cozy, the story drove hot painful sharps into my stomach. This book was real, as real as books can get. If you’ve ever had one of those guy/girl friend relationships where the awkward possibility of dating gets in the way, you can relate to Evan and Lucy. Their relationship, borderline friendship and more-than-friends, is so exceedingly real and messy. This book was not a particularly happy book. It was gritty, it was raw, and it breathed with simple poetry. Plus the artwork is classy. It adds some comic relief along the ride. I’m a fan of the new trend of artwork along with the novel. I hope this book goes far, it deserves to.
