“I thought Mitch Albom's idea of heaven was interesting. I never would have thought that heaven was totally different for everybody...I always pictured it as an utopia where everyone coexisted peacefully after death, but not the perfect place for each person. For example, the Captain's heaven was set in the war grounds where he fought, except the area was not like it was during the fighting, rather, it was the beautiful scenery and weather that was what the land looked like before the war. On the other hand, there was Ruby's heaven, which was a snowy place with a diner with all the people hurt at Ruby Pier there taking comfort in their lives before their deaths. It was an interesting book because Albom seemed to imply that people, once in heaven, cannot connect with every single person who ever lived, not even all the people they knew when they were alive. I suppose this makes sense because not all of the people you know in life are people you would want to be bothered by in heaven...it's just interesting that not everyone's heavens are directly connected, only some. Also, I wonder what really happens once you die in Albom's mind. Does everyone have to wait and go through people who had an impact on their lives before they can move on totally into their own heaven?”
“this book was amazing mainly because it tells you about the meaning of life.. i do recommend this silly book.. i thought it was a great one! i love mitch alboms books they all have such great meanings to them mainly about life... and what lifes worth and means... if youre at a situation to always thinking about what lifes meaning is.. i think you should read this book... it is kind of confusing but you'll really get into the book! ENJOY!”
“If you haven't seen the movie, you should, it's definitely not as good as the book, but worth your time.”
“"every life has one true love snapshot.." Ü”
“this book shows that all people are connected with an invisible string.. anything we do affects one person in a way we either want or not.. life is wonderful, dont waste it..Ü”
“GREAT BOOK! NICE STORY & MAKES YOU WANT TO PONDER WHAT OUR TRUE PURPOSE IN LIFE]”
“tracey s, maybe poor mitch has gotten walt disney and god confused.... can you imagine long lines of sweating, overweight camera weilding tourists scrolling around metal railing towards a phscobabbler to learn what their life have meant? And paying four bucks for a soda in the bargain? i almost would prefer twains vision in letters from earth. now that was a fun look at the after life! how come nobody is wranting about twains veiws on heaven anymore?”
“This was quick reading and very refreshing because it was not trying to be clever or erudite or complex or witty, I think it was just someone honestly trying to put over something which had helped him through his life and he wanted to share with other people. Thanks Mitch! I don't think it is really sentimental but it really gets to the bottom of what causes pain and misery in life and dissolves it, If only it were that easy, but good try! ”
“funny, this and Sam the Firefly, a classic story by P D Eastman, both came up on my comment line. Sam the Firefly is a great book that explores talent, responsibility sand freindship, too bad 5 people is neither as well written nor as meaningful....”
