Great sequel to The Bean Trees. I didn't want my journey with Turtle and her mother to end.

One of the only books from which I can quote - a powerful one in there that has never left me.

Interesting tale of Turtle andher adoptive mother who run away from Tucson, escaping the Cherokee Nation's lawyer intent on returning Turtle to her Native home. Interesting observations on the Native ways of knowing and life; the anticipation of the ending propelled me forward and while not a shocking finish, it was a satisfying one. Not Kingsolver's best, she tells a good story.

This book is wonderful. The character, Codi, tells a story about the small town called Grace where she and her sister grew up. Codi returns as an adult to face her past and her sick father. Great story and well written. I love this author.

A complicated story about an adopted child who saves the life of a boy. A Cherokee lawyer recognizes the child as being one of the nation and pursues the rights of the Nation.

I found the beginning not very engaging; but as the story moved along I was quite caught up in the characters and the narrative.

So far, it's a pretty good book. It is the next part of the story of Taylor andTurtle from Kingsolver's book THE BEAN TREES. It's interesting, but I still love THE POISONWOOD BIBLE the best!

Have now finished the novel. Same thoughts as above. I think Barbara Kingsolver has a real way of telling a story that needed to be told.

The ending seemed a bit...fairytale predictable. But, it is a novel/story afterall!

Not as good as The Bean Trees but still worth the read, as long as you have read The Bean Trees first.

A very compelling human interest story with real characters you come to appreciate knowing. Kingsolver is a terrific writer.

Unique focus on U.S-American culture and the interaction of its "sub-cultures"

My personal favorite amongst Kingsolver's prodigious collection, perhaps only rivalled by Prodigal Spring.
