“The Chronicles of Narnia are absolutely some of my favorite books from one of my favorite authors. Before having discovered Tolkien, C.S. Lewis' works filled and engaged my imagination and perhaps were one of the reasons why I cleaved so tightly to Christianity: for in these slight books supposedly for children is contained truth, spirit, and transcendent wisdom. These books can be enjoyed on so many different levels, and each has a different role to play. The feeling of wonder and romance (in the classical sense of that word) completely surpasses anything attempted by modern fantasy. With his friend Tolkien, Lewis created works of spirit and imagination that have not yet and likely will not ever be surpassed. Though it's often said that they created a new genre, nothing yet within modern Fantasy has ever come close, either in scope, in effect, or in knowledge of the classical traditions and bodies of lore upon which the two Inklings drew.”
