Awesome Audio Book Set

I am so pleased with the book set on CD's. I don't care to read very often & since I am a home health nurse I'm in my car alot. Books on CD are very entertaining for us folks on the road. I'd recommend this set to everyone! I saw the movie before I got this set which is what perked my interest in Narnia. I'm 35y/o & I loved it! I'm finishing up the last book now. I'm sad that it's ending though it's kept me entertained for over a month. (I did have a little trouble following the directions to my patients houses because I was so into the stories, oops!).

We really enjoyed the different readers for each of the seven stories. I'll never get used to people re-arranging them into chronological order, but that is easly fixed. The only real issue I have is Patrick Stewart reading "The Last Battle". I kept thinking that Aslan was going to beam them up. Otherwise, they are great fun and especially good for long car rides.
The Chronicles of Narnia Movie Tie-in Box Set (adult) (Narnia)

Now how are you supposed to know if this sealed box set at the store is concidered 'adult' pray tell! There is no indication that it isn't illustrated like any other boxed sets that were ever printed of the Chronicles of Narnia! Nor does it say anywhere on the box 'adult' set. Also, it was sold where children's books were!
I am upset that it is without the illustrations. I have personally read this set about 9 or 10 times throughout the years and have always enjoyed the text as well as the illustrations. I bought this particular set at a store as a christmas present for my daughter and I am very irate about the omission. I also duly note the price is much higher than for the 'children's version {same text with wonderful illustrations)'. I am taking it back. I don't like it and have already purchased a set with illustrations from Amazon.
Great audiobooks!

My husband and I absolutely LOVE this set of The Chronicles of Narnia audiobooks. The stories are all read by actors who do an amazing job of giving special voices to the characters and who paint pictures of what is happening in the stories by the way they read the books. I can't imagine that I could like a movie rendition, or even an audio dramatized version of these stories more than these audio books that are simply read in their entirety. They're captivating! I really like that you get the REAL story - it hasn't been changed and nothing has been deleted for the sake of filming or making it dramatic. And you still get to use your imagination to create the scenes in your mind. We don't have any children yet, but when we do, we will definitely listen to these with our kids.
A Roaring Success!

I decided to get these for long road trips. After reading the different reviews I bought this set. We live with our daughter and her family in a large house, so altogether there are 10 of us. Our grandchildren love this series (ages 9 yrs to 9 months). They have listened to them over and over. Our 18 yr son has listened to them too. The vote is that this is the best ones yet and we've had a few. C. S. Lewis can weave a story like no one else. It's cause me (56 yrs old) to go back and re-read this series. I think it's a wonderful gift for grandchildren and grandparents.
Audio CDs [Unabridged] Review

Audio CDs [Unabridged] Review.

There are 7 books with several CDs in each book (31 total CDs that play for about 1 hour per CD). There are several nice illustrations on the book pages and on the CDs. The audio quality is very good.

A different narrator reads each book and they are all very good at story telling. I was pleasantly surprised to find that switching narrators between books did not take away from the experience at all.

I listened to the books in chronological order (book 1, book 2, etc.) and found it to be very enjoyable.

Over all it's a great value for some very entertaining stories.
Paper qualtiy poor

The box set is great reading...but for the price...especially the list price of $70.00, I would have expected higher quality paper. The set is printed on pulp paper and will not last worth beans and the covers are thin and not robust. You may as well buy the cheapest set you can find, because the quality of the cheaper books is not any lower, the books are just a little smaller and the "bonus content is just the first chapter of the next book and some other tidbits of marginal interest

Had I known about the paper quality being junk, I would have bought the individual books from Barnes and Noble with the slick, paper. It would have been about $25.00 more total, but I like to buy books that will still be readable in 20 years and not have pages crumble in your hands.

I've seen the movie and I've read the book.

I normally write in detail on what struck me and pulled me as I read. But I must reserve myself and offer a simple point of view. Why? I hope you ask... and if you did ask... I'd say.. the book and/ or the movie is too good to ruin with a review read it, watch it enjoy it as if you don't know a thing about it and it take you where the writer intended. if there was a Ten STAR reting I'd have clicked it.
Wonderful! Excellent! Superb! (if you like fairy-tales then you may read this review, if not, don't go any further)

The Chronicles of Narnia are beautifully written books. They are some of my favorite books I've ever read. I would strongly reccomend them to everyone. I have read them all seven times, and I still can't decide which is my favorite! People who don't like them surprise me. Not only are they wonderful fairy-tales, they also have a lot of underlying Christian themes.
In 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe', Aslan's death is a beautiful, deeply moving, picture of Jesus' death. Of course, if you don't like fairy-tales, you don't need to read this review. But if you do, then after you read the review, you might want to check out the books at the local library. I would give them 10,000,000 stars if at all possible, and I do give them 2 thumbs up! Wonderful! Excellent! Superb!

The Chronicles of Narnia are some of my favorite books of all time. I hadn't read them since I was 12, but was lead to revisit them with the release of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" in theatres. I had really forgotten how magical the stories were!
The adult set was an especially great buy! Each book was followed up with interesting insights into C.S. Lewis' life and his famous series. And even though I know the books are now published in Lewis' preferred order, I appreciated that the book numbers are not prominantly displayed on each books' spine so I can keep them in the "classic" order on my shelf!
The Chronicles of Narnia is a must have for any age!

I enjoyed the books very much. They are a little different form my usual reading, R.A.Salvadore and Micheal Jordan. The books gave me a needed break. When I finished them I was happy to turn them over to my granddaughtter.

It certainly has become one of my favorites series of books, if not the most. It really kept me entertained. I spent most of my work hours reading the books, and sometimes I hated been working because of the interrumptions. I read almost 10 chapters while working and kept me focused imagining everything that C.S. Lewis described as if I were watching a movie.

only disappointed with the books being numbered chronologically instead of by publish date. they are great books for adults and children the like. easy to read and follow - creative, imaginative and humorous. maybe too short a novel and too simple for adults but who isn't a child at heart? the rough pictures in the books are very descriptive and makes the books more interesting.

it's better reading it by the publish date even though each book can stand on it's own. i'm up to the third book and it certainly flows well. i have a bad memory - it's easier to recollect their last visit when the author refers to it in the current book i'm reading. i have not read it in the numbered order but am sure i will one day.

the prince caspian book was brand new but was a bit mangled even though it came in the boxed set but i think it was a mechanical damage. i'm sure i'll survive with one smashed up binding.

Excellent series of books for the entire family. The only thing which would have enhanced the series if the "The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe" contained photos of scenes from the Motion Picture.
