This is an excellent work of political history. The novel explores the character and leadership of Abraham Lincoln by examining his decision making and his relationships among members of his cabinet. Either the book is extremely sympathetic to Lincoln, or he was truly both a great and good man....

Best Lincoln bio ever. Amazing look at Lincoln & his cabinet, much of it told from surviving letters & diaries.

An extremely interested look at the life of Lincoln, focusing on how he took political rivals, put them into positions of power in his administration, and worked with them through the most trying time in our nations history. Some of the material was familiar to me, but there were many revelations about Lincoln I was unaware of before reading this book.

One thing interesting about this biography of Lincoln was how he dealt with his rivals in ways that turned them into friends. For those he wasn't able to convert to friends, he still handled them well.

An amazing look at Lincoln's presidency. As Otto von Bismarck said: "Politics is the art of the possible".

GREAT, I've read many Lincoln books, but this really details how he choose his cabinet and then got everyone to work with him.
