Maeve Binchy has a gift of making a love story sound too good to be true, but also very real. She has chosen to write light novels, but she has been gifted (or she studied hard - I don't know) with a strong affinity for the language she uses. Copper Beech is no exception to her rules... each chapter is about a different person in an Irish town in the 1940s/1950s, and, in the separate chapters, there are connections because everything we do affects others.

If you've disregarded Binchy as "fluff" but you appreciate good use of English, I suggest that you give her a try. You may not love her, but if, as I say, you've disregarded her as yet another "romance writer," you WILL be surprised.
